Birth
18 October 2021
A life yet to be born; A world outside already torn. Gradually in the womb it grows, The space around us narrows. Small becomes little bigger; Closing open windows trigger To kick the belly of our creator, Giving freedom to the violator! Wonder how the heartbeats sound? A lawless world so profound. When the head comes out, 'All the anarchy' halts in doubt. The blood and soul gets mixed, The violent busy eyes transfixed To a lump of flesh and fluid; Even the malevolent turns Druid.
Revolution
5 May 2021
Revolution starts with a damn gunfire, Or a politician’s deadly desires! Reminiscing about the battles they lost, Taken aback, the mass avoid the cost Life has put forth, lurking in the shadows— The powerful reaps rewards, burning arrows Pierce through the chests of rebels, Rotting maybe in there tiny jail-cells! You hope a phoenix will rise from the ashes— While the whole world around crashes; But baby it’s not a fucking film, In streets I look for a fallen limb! Monsters and ghosts dance at my grave, Fortune doesn’t always favor the brave— We look for broken pieces to join, The Gods decimate lives by a toss of a coin!
Apanthropy
10 April 2021
You paint the sky with abstract silhouettes,- Fluttering beneath, the wings of bliss Snugly breath the winds that kiss The lips of my mind's vignettes. Pinnate leaves dancing about below in coconut tree, So far still so close to you, Perspective is what I view, Until you touch me as you let your tears fall free! Bound by the limits of horizon, Long after the blue becomes lighter, Or during the blue hour, darker- Or at sunrise and sunset, yellow and crimson. Eyes wandering through apricot clouds floating Over pastel palette of opalescent screen, Often meeting at the edge of the green, Until the colors turn azure at the onset of spring. While the universe sparks passion and flame, Darkness manifests among whom we live. Rejoice gathers us all but alone we grieve, No one accompanies us in the vicious game Of climbing the ladder in the chaos of earth. Golden streaks devoured by calamity of sins, Lesser gets trampled as the wheel spins In my solitary world, where of good men there is dearth.
Then There will Come Rain
28 March 2021
Scorching heat and the dust, Parched leaves and lips in thirst;- Sombre lanes and shadowy trees, An oasis is what one sees. Then there will come rain, Upon whose soul life has lain, And the smell of the ground With memories of drizzling sound. At dusk, the frogs singing in pool, When the birds' plumage and pinions cool, After pied cuckoos would've come and left, When a trickle of water from the cleft Gives life to the shimmering moss; Flock of openbills flying across. When ponds and lakes brim with water, And not one will know of the slaughter, Ensuing the ruins of the earth, None will recall after rebirth. Even if mankind perished utterly, None would care, neither bird nor tree.
Solace
26 March 2021
What do you pray for- The hard way to learn, Or something to make it all go away? What do you seek- The daunting truth that hurts, Or the little lie that spawns everyday? Hidden treasures of human heart And the memories picking it apart- Die a silent death in vain, Seeking solace in numbing pain!
Silence
12 March 2021
What sounded like music Among all the noises of storm, Was the silence— In barren branches On perished trees; Quartet plays in distance, Still the quiet we miss! A voiceless song,— The octaves lost in echoes, Resonating the chorus of mutes.
Insomnia
6 August 2020
The baby giggles and wiggles on the beach, Dreamy but out of my reach! Breathing like sounds of the wave, Sleep can't find its way to pave.
Crabs in a bucket
23 July 2020
Life surprises in many ways, We often fall into an abyss, Waiting for someone to pull us up, Often to find ourselves alone. And even when we find a ladder, The people we cling to Drags us down even more Like crabs in a bucket. We forget what Tagore said, Whom you haul beneath binds you And tugs you into the same crate.
Pollination
17 July 2020
Sky is beautiful for its hues of blue, The clouds and the stars, Trees for the leaves and flowers. Let us broaden the horizon, Let us bloom the petals, Until a new wave begins, When bees and flies and birds Scatters the pollen escaping The pitchers or the shards, Or spider's ornate- the dew-soaked webs. The birth of new life awaits.
Attraction
14 July 2020
Why do we get attracted Like moths towards the light, Or the opposite poles of magnet, Or bees towards honey? Yet simple things have distracted Us, blinded by the rays so bright, We often realise our mistakes late, Until every decision seems funny.
Memento
1 July 2020
Remember the seashell You found on the beach, How you kept it hidden Out of everyone's reach; Just like that hide me In your secret place, Or the wildflower you plucked, By the mountain stream, Put in inside a book, Like a precious little thing; Let your heart be those pages Where I can find my space!
Lithium
30 June 2020
Don't listen to your heart, Mind and head so far apart, I took a remedy so strong When everything was going wrong- Now I see so vivid, My thoughts no more livid. With the pain going down, Under nothingness memories drown! For the past couple of days, I can see it on your face, You doubt whether I'm fine, Still you smile like Sunshine. I took a remedy so strong, Happiness hadn't stayed so long Like waves knock down the sandcastle, Mind and matter still wrestle!
Kodachrome
30 June 2020
My life was so black and white, In my darkness, you brought a light, Under the sun and under the moon We were touching the waves after soon. I was waiting for the stars then- Oh you came, you came Like a Kodachrome, In my Photoframe Colourful pictures of you. I was watching a boring play, Still one character made me stay- Sitting at aisle on the front row, Saw the lights make you glow- Just a glimpse in red-orange, That night- Oh you came, you came Like a Kodachrome, In my Photoframe Colourful pictures of you. Not so long before I die, While our memories pass by, All the trips to the beach, Or the mountains in reach. Still don't know why you loved me, I had been never so free; Like the blue of the sky, Green forests endless they lie, All those but you caught my eye, And then- Oh you came, you came Like a Kodachrome, In my Photoframe Colourful pictures of you.
Mirror, mirror
29 June 2020
Mirror, mirror On the wall! Can't see Inside my body, Oh the light shines! Mirror, Mirror On the wall! All so sparkly Making me blind, Until soul finds itself!
Games
28 June 2020
Let's roll a dice, One to six- be the price. Let's pick a card, Four by thirteen, calls the bird! It's all about chance, Changing at every glance. Whether we win or lose, Life is what we choose!
Hope
27 June 2020
Bodies pass by, Cold and ignorant, We long for warmth Standing under the shadow of street lights. Moon waxes and wanes Stain still remains, We look for stars Sitting under the darkness of horizon.
If you forget
24 June 2020
If you forget me, I want you to see All the things you might miss, How my existence was a bliss! But I won't forget you, In the sunshine or morning dew, The smell of the flowers Or the roadside showers, I'll find you again, When my memories regain How we used to thrive Until the time we were alive!
Jargon
23 June 2020
When words fail to express Half of what you're feeling, A maze created by universe Leaves your voice reeling, Pick up a pen and pad Put down all sour and sad Peel away one by one Whatever stories you have shunned. When you can't write anymore, All the pages you did tore, Fall apart, each and every sentence, Piece them together to make sense Into a long-awaited ponder, Curling towards penance or a wonder. Daffodils, berries or grass,- Happy thoughts you need to mass. Even then if you're locked away, Brimming with emotions in dismay, Crafting coherent thoughts hard enough Wanting to float it all up, Gibberish nay jargon you create, Out of all untraceable fates While the world listens to you Write every chronicle anew!
Incredulous
23 June 2020
A moment has passed, But the time is still stuck! Tick-tock the clock goes, Two hands still they froze. Space shrinking so fast, Soon a breath will be the last. Even the wall doesn't matter, Rushing into dreams that shatter The belief we had in ages, The words we've seen in pages! You swore you knew a magic spell, Now would be the time to tell And stop building castles in the air With a mind numb and so bare, Eternity's incredulous notion- Defying earth's ever-slowing motion.
Haystack
18 June 2020
The shack seems abandoned, I wonder where they have gone! The bottom of the haystack rots, The roof shingles got broken a lot, A storm had blown away-- A thousand miles I walked, The sun and the rain may mock, Wuthering wind laughs and howls, Silent killers always on the prowl; Still nothing could make me sway! Just like the haystack, Rotten to its core, My body broken inside My arms and legs so sore-- We stand still in waves of sordidness The frontier of life and death!
Gremlin
4 June 2020
The closest we'd been to sun Is the earth, not all But some were ignorant of What happened to Icarus! We flew above and beyond. Thunder growls and strikes, The shock wave ruptures The ground and the pole, Lightning we see and blinded then- We still flew, not to let ourselves despond! Little did we know, the gremlin hidden- Dismantling the flight Over the topsy-turvy clouds We still hang on to the wings Until we were compelled to abscond. Down, down, down we go Into the abyss of earth; Too eager and arrogant we flew In the face of limit Only to be brought down to the ground!
Fulcrum
28 May 2020
Dead rises from the ashes and graves, An ineffable way life paves! Into the night, darkest of dreams Long long the journey, it seems! Fulcrum of living, the dead- Flesh burnt out over the red, Indeed the world falls into a chaos, Skeletons still keep alive its ethos Of love and violence, war and sex- Soul, oh the soul and spirit it takes!
Emancipation
22 May 2020
The roads now vacant, Never though I anticipated The rough soles of the feet Home so distant! Weary faces seem so awry I enjoy distance From all the unendurable sights Ever so heart-wrenching story! Garments stripped from worn bones Muscles dragged through Scorching heat or storm Warm bed on the stones! You dance, you sing- You too enjoy distance From naked truth of life Or the visuals that sting! Self emancipation eludes us Hidden by a curtain Outside they moulder, free of life- Shedding tears in hiatus.
Doldrums
21 May 2020
The deafening silence Notwithstanding the destruction, Withering with penance Thunder strikes the ground! We dwell in a dazzling place, Now full of debris, Flowers don't bloom no more, Peeled off all its grace. Soil soaked in rippling rivers, Rivers that have ceased to flow, Meadows so green and fresh, Stale now, perished and yellow. Streams that roared like lion, Now pouring over all the crops, A world blessed with drizzles Suddenly a massacre drops!
Cataclysm
13 May 2020
Oh the crimson red, Drooling all over the dead! Mundane, ugly and sordid, Destruction so vivid In colors and light, Not a single life in sight- Realist paints the mimesis! The past follows us, The dust gradually amass; Horror, terror and awe Emotions terribly raw In beauty of nature Sublimity that aesthetics capture, Romantic enacts its own laws! The clouds dripping blood, Flesh and bone afloat on flood! Distortion of perspective Radical in the way we live, Express more than we perceive- While violent delights bereave Expressionists of their reality!
Bandwagon
3 May 2020
'Jump in', said the hippie With fancy dresses and A smile from ear to ear! 'What's it got?', asked the boy Full of misery and devoid of joy! 'Get in and you'll be granted All your wishes', chanted With a tint of sarcasm and smear- They boy couldn't notice, The words itself sufficed And here they join the bandwagon! 'Hop in', startled the lady in white, Contrasting her skin so bright, Sour to think of her future In lack of love and wealth but shame! Hesitant she hides her face, 'Sweetheart, it's not a race! Join me and you shall have A place intangible to salve All your pains and sorrow, Nothing but love to borrow, A prince nay a star To guide you through paths afar!' Though he had her at love, The peroration continued above Her whispers of acquiescence, Oblivious that the time is of essence; Soon they depart too Eager to join the bandwagon! 'Quick! Come quick!', again yelled the hippie, This time to the penniless, Patiently asking for money in vain, Days that go by in disdain! 'Why would I?' asked with a blank face, Glancing at his vivid dress! 'You'll have food and drink, More money than your eyes can blink!' 'How?', bewildered the needy gasps, 'That's where the devotion erupts, Unto the eternity of God's will Into the mecca, floating like a quill!' 'Hail mary', he breaks forth; Another to jump into the bandwagon! Then came a wise woman, And another sharp man, Entangled their soul in knowledge; Like a holy grail of sacred pledge- Swatted away all the soliloquies, Unmoved how much they squeeze, Marching on towards a new road, Less travelled, still they strode With pride and hope so high, Not following anyone but thy Words of wisdom they plunged, All the other faiths expunged, Glorious, oh people! Can't you see? Embracing the world makes you free! Neither the beliefs nor the creeds, What matters, are your deeds Against the spirit of bandwagon!
Avant-garde
24 April 2020
Morning sunshine and dew, The hair falling a few, Wide awake I see A face never free From the shackles of love, Stars beyond and above Take me to a world Where dexterities unfold- A kiss to build a dream on, A touch that feels gone; Miracle still happens, oh Wonder how we fix so- All the mishaps on the way Throwing the love away! We come again and again To revisit our pain, Bohemians fail and die, But to create, won't shy! Oh the great love of life, How far we strive To achieve perfection In the face of rejection! Upheaval finally arrives. So, the future survives!
Paradise
20 September 2018
WINTER DEW ON HER LIPS, SMOKY MOUNTAIN-LIKE HAIRS- A view in paradise! Like a foggy wintery morning, The time without you- Shrouded in relentless thoughts UNTIL THE SUNRISE! SPRING SHALL BRING FORTH The ecstasy of breeze, Letting the flowers bloom,- Waving over the meadows, LIKE SHE DAZZLES AROUND,- Dancing through my mind WITH A GENTLE SMILE AND Playfully twirling her hair! SHE CASTS HER GAZE TOWARDS THE HORIZON, WHERE THE LUMINOUS SUN RISES Over the misty lands. HER BREATH WARM AND TENDER, Like the first rays of dawn! BENEATH THE BLUE IN DAYTIME And the blinking of Million stars at night, BEHOLD HER BEAUTY,- Whilst an impressionist FREELY BRUSHES COLOURS ON THE CANVAS! Never-perishing water-lily she is, Building a paradise with her grace!
Fidelity
14 September 2018
The Sun shines Through the mists, Snow opens Its clenched fists; Green, lush and exquisite, On the horizon, Birds chirp And flutter on unison. Nature clutches the children To her breast, However impish they are, Causing unrest. Fidelity, down the time, Appears constant, Filled with blessings, Withering in distance.
Eclipse
9 September 2018
The wonderful destruction, Hovering over your shoulders- You couldn't see! Smile on your face, Satisfaction, whether or not exists-- You put up a facade of happiness. Hollow inside, unknowingly fills up With all you pretend to be-- As the unforseeable future draws close, Soul and body mixes up, Disguise becomes real Eclipsing your inner light, Like the Sun and the moon Does to each other; Only difference being the perpetuality.
Missing
12 August 2018
A guitar With no strings attached- Just a stylish hollow box! A flute With no opening to blow- Just a pipe, petty and narrow! So is life without love- An entourage of emptiness, A thought without paradox! Seemingly happy yet so distant From the festivities of life, Devoid of mind's incessant flow!
Divergent
25 June 2018
Three paths, One unknown, One you choose and One you crossed before; Divergent yet salient, Each calling us For journey unknown, Paring down the core. The three paths, Now come together At the end of the voyage, The last breath, we take! Until life lasts We rummage our way out, To stumble upon the reality- Ever awake! We choose our path, The time consumes, Past, present or future, Convinced we are right. While we go astray, The World laughs at us And gradually, all three Goes beyond our sight!
Catalyst
24 June 2018
The story that wrote itself- Searching for a climax, Drifting towards a scene, Commit moments to eternity; A catalyst comes forth Guiding it through consequences! We all fear time- What it could bring upon us- Always haunted, still credulous; Lightning crashes on the ground, Thunder rumbles inside our head- Lets fear seeping their way past Fragile minds.
Background
23 June 2018
We believe what we see- Weary of all that lies behind, All that didn't cross our mind Invisible to naked eyes; Going on in the background.
Anchor
22 June 2018
'Do you believe in fate?' 'I might! But does it matter?' Conspicuous, distance prevails Over the apparent bonding of love. Although you were slient, Your vacant eyes screamed! Reluctantly I pulled myself away Watching from distance, Gradually waning- Everything I dreamed. Doesn't matter Whether you go up or down; The turmoil always brings you back. Clinging onto the past, Memories swing back and forth Weighing you down. Your love was the anchor In my life- Rusty and heavy, Binding me to the shore; I let go of it An act watching encore!
Carpenter
24 May 2018
We get hold of the carpenter At the expense Of plenty of wood, But does he ever go to the Woods?
Tunnel
22 May 2018
Walking through a tunnel- Pitch black, Isolated from The slightest touch of life, A journey through darkness- Yearning to see the waning moon, The glow of the fireflies, Reminiscing what we have done, Good or bad, We introspect ourselves, Taking a vow of rectitude; 'Alas!', irony chuckles. As soon as we get out, Filled with blistering light We leave our promises behind, False and momentary Hovering over Our pretentious self-righteousness.
Wait
21 May 2018
'Will you wait for me, my dear?', asked the sky; 'As always, darling. I have no life without you', said earth. Waiting for the warmth of the sun, the plants sighed; Destitute of touch of the wind, the seeds hid Under the miry layers of soil, air humid; Then rain came pouring down, ceaselessly Splashing all over- the leaves, the stem, the rocks With a gentle caress, life awakes- The seeds come forth as saplings, green and little. Whispering of the breeze, fluttering of the leaves, Blooming in ecstasy, the withering petals also relives. As dark clouds gather, the blue sky is forgotten; Until earth remembers her old friend With muddy hands, a deluge overflowing her body. Likewise, humans bury their memory of fondness, As someone walks away for a while; Awaiting for revival, indifferent to the wandering mind; While the ache of dampening hearts Finally reminds them of their lost soul!
Until
29 April 2018
Searching for freedom, We trap ourselves in the prison- Of our own desires! Ever so beautiful, a maze never ending; What is freedom anyways- Until the soul is gone? Does a caterpillar wish to become a butterfly? Whether butterflies deem themselves beautiful- We impose our idea of beauty; What is beauty anyways- Until, we have vision?
Time and Again
15 February 2018
Lost inside the circle of love- Time and again, Memories turn into daydreams! Happiness captured in world’s empathy Grows old into muffled screams! Beginning at the end of times A journey unknown- Unearth the mysteries of life, Another puzzle climbs. People parting like withering leaves, Coming back to haunt us- Time and again, Still we believe in them. However well we fare in our wilderness, Serenity frittered away- We elude ourselves from the landscape of calm, Onto the infinite horizon of desolation-
Narcissist
13 October 2017
Deep into the realms of reality, Nothingness haunts us in our dreams. Waking up perspiring, in tenebrosity- The voice of a narcissist screams. Inching towards devouring own conscience With all that is left of scrambled mind. Perpetually devoid of temporal alliance With all the vision overtly blind! In the denial of very existence- The whole world reflects in its image;- Creeping out with its delicate defense Beauty impels ever alluring forage. Mirror seems beautiful over all nature paints; Swarming with irony and paradox of love- Projection so elliptical, gradually faints Towards unfathomable bravado soaring above. A mirage to build a castle of fantasy Holds the ground with all its deception. Fiction so true to conceal their fallacy- Deluding themselves, sink into oblivion.
